On a calibrated 0.40 mm nozzle running 0.20 mm layer heights in PLA or PETG, add +0.15 mm to +0.20 mm total diametral clearance for a snug friction press-fit, +0.30 mm to +0.35 mm for a smooth drop-in tool or cable slot, and +0.45 mm to +0.60 mm for a loose sliding tray or desk-clamp jaw.
